V 2.25 with colorizer e2ansi-cat

This release brings improvements in colorizing. Output is no longer piped into colorizers but taken from temporary files with suitable file extensions. The Java decompiler procyon can now output colores within the lesspipe call and a new emacs based colorizer e2ansi-cat has been added.

v 2.24 without dependency on perl

This version contains shell scripts only (working with bash/zsh). Colored log files have been enabled again using tailspin (binary tspin). Users who do not want colorized output should remove the vimcolor (and code2color) scripts that got installed in previous versions.

V 2.23 with perl dependency for testing only (vimcolor)

The perl scripts archive_color and configure have been converted to shell scripts, the test suite does now produce more consistent results across systems and different colorizers used. Small bug fixes and documentation enhancements were performed.

V2.21 with more options to control the installation

The configure script has been enhanced, installation directories can be chosen independently from a given prefix. If the filtered output of nonempty files is empty (and LESSQUIET=1), the original content of the file is displayed now. Log file colorization is no longer done and mdcat as a markdown filtering program is removed. For more changes see the ChangeLog.

V 2.20 with better support for termux

Certain binaries like ar, nm, locale and tput are not present in the standard installation of termux, but its presence was assumed. That has now been fixed and should lead to less error messages popping up in that environment. Also colorful output is produced where appropriate.

v 2.19 with improved config script

The configure script has been improved. There is a check on old unusable bash versions and the option --all-completions has been removed. For videos now ffprobe is tried first if installed to display the file characteristics. The configuration of tab completion has been described in more detail.

V2.18 with better xlsx handling and new documentation

With this release a small article on lesspipe.sh has been written and can be found on the lesspipe.sh wiki. This release has been published exactly 25 years after the 1.0 release, where recursive filtering was introduced.
