I still believe that using a database migration framework would be a significant improvement. But I definitely have no time to pursue this. So if there is nobody who likes to adopt this - yes; let's close it. |

This is still very much "work in progress". But wanted to open the PR to make this visible.
The goal of this PR is to introduce the Alembic database migration framework which should make it easier to handle database schema changes in future.
