Resources for myself on using Fedora specifically and Linux in general
Even though I use Obsidian for notetaking and as a knowledge base, my vault is a mess and it has bunch of "nuggets of wisdom" I collected over the years. With this repo, I seek to extract these bits of knowledge and put them in a tidy way here, essentially another way to keep myself accountable.
- Post-Install "Nice-to-haves"
- COPRs of Interest: COPRs that I found interesting and could use in the future.
- On packaging and package maintenance
- Installing and using Doom Emacs
- RHCSA 10 Studies
In this repo, I will try my best to make the resources device-agnostic. To have an added context, I think it's best to add what devices are "in-scope" for these resources.
In my daily life, I have bunch of devices:
- PowerSpec G730: A prebuilt I got to upgrade my desktop.
- My daily driver.
- Currently running
bazzirco-dx-nvidiabootc image - Specs:
- AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
- 32 GB RAM
- Lenovo X1 Carbon 6th gen (Thinkpad): A refurbished Thinkpad I got from Amazon
- An upgrade for the Microsoft Surface that was passed down to me.
- My "mobility" daily driver.
- Lenovo Y50-70: An old laptop that carried me through the college years.
- Ethernet port is broken
- Small hinge issues
- Only one USB port seems to work
- Steam Deck OLED 1 TB: Christmas gift I got from my awesome wife
- Stock, aside from the MicroSD card and Decky Loader installation
- Microsoft Surface: Not sure which model but it's old, will add more details later
- Served me faithfully for years.
- I like the form factor.
I will limit the use of AI / LLMs as much as possible, be aware that I occassionally use Claude, Gemini and ChatGPT to do certain things such as:
- Tedious tasks (e.g. formatting)
- A second pair of eyes (e.g. proofreading scripts, expensive linter, etc)
- As a rubber duck that talks back.
- For studying (e.g. "I am practicing area XYZ for the RHCSA exam, can you give me a drill to reinforce the concepts I learned so far?")
- For researching (e.g. "Here are bunch of docs, can you explain to me how I can do XYZ?")
- tonybtw: Main inspiration. Although his videos can be too fast for me, I can follow along. Learned a great deal of things.
- Zirconium: Great bootc image that has Niri and Dank Material Shell. It doesn't get better than this. Solid community.
- valerie-tar-gz: For maintaining Bazzirco, my daily driver.
