My name is Juliano Franz. I currently work as Director of Product at Halifax-based startup Glas Ocean Electric.

I was born in Brazil, where I studied Computer Engineering, and I currently live in Halifax, where I completed my Ph.D. in Computer Science. My research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Supported Collaborative Work, and Group Sports such as road cycling.

At Glas Ocean Electric, I work in the marine sector, finding solutions for sustainable waterways through electric propulsion, vessel tracking and operator training, and machine-learning-based vessel performance models. I wear many hats (as everyone in a small startup), but on the technical side, I mostly work with embedded systems (Free RTOS), ML, and Webdev (React and Node.js) these days.
