Configuration: Badges Cumulative
Prerequisites: Configuration: Points, user profiles with gamification enabled Scope: Set up long-term rank progression badges
Note
In kid-facing dashboard wording, these may be presented as Rank Badges or simply Ranks. In Home Assistant configuration screens, the setup flow still uses Cumulative Badge terminology.
Cumulative badges are long-term rank milestones based on lifetime points.
Use them when you want:
- Tier progression (for example Bronze → Silver → Gold)
- Ongoing multiplier rewards for sustained effort
- Optional maintenance requirements to keep higher tiers active
Tip
Cumulative badges are best for long-term motivation. In dashboard language, think of them as Rank Badges. Use periodic/daily badges for short-cycle missions or Quest Badges.
- Go to Settings → Devices & Services → ChoreOps → Configure
- Select Manage Badge
- Choose Add Cumulative Badge
- Complete fields and save
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Badge Name | Yes | Unique display name |
| Description | No | Optional guidance text |
| Labels | No | Optional organization tags |
| Icon | No | Material Design icon |
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Threshold Value | Yes | Lifetime points required |
| Maintenance Points | No | Points required per cycle to keep higher-tier status |
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Assigned To | Yes | Select at least one eligible profile |
Note
Some UI labels and keys still use legacy assignment wording. Keep those literal labels in forms as-is.
You can configure one or more award items:
- Points
- Rewards
- Bonuses
- Multiplier
Tip
Use conservative multipliers. Larger base chore points usually need smaller multipliers.
Configure recurring evaluation windows (daily/weekly/monthly/etc.) and optional grace days.
- Profile earns points over time
- Badge is awarded when threshold is reached
- Higher thresholds unlock higher tiers
If maintenance is enabled:
- Meeting maintenance target keeps current tier behavior active
- Missing maintenance target can move effective tier down
- Regaining required points restores higher-tier status
For a 3-tier setup:
- Tier 1: reachable in first month
- Tier 2: medium-term stretch
- Tier 3: long-term target
Keep early tiers motivating, but leave enough spacing for meaningful progression.
- Verify profile is assigned to the badge
- Verify threshold value and current lifetime points
- Confirm gamification is enabled for the user profile
- Check badge status in entity state
- Verify multiplier is configured in award items
- Confirm maintenance requirements are being met (if enabled)
- Save and reload integration if needed
- Recheck assigned profile list in badge editor
