Explanation: Many Rmd files have a yaml metadata header. Sometimes this header contains a params section for parameterized report generation. In such an Rmd file, the R code assumes the presence of a params object. Without that params variable, the R code in the Rmd file is dysfunctional. Intellij IDEA handles this situation correctly. VS Code does not. This pull request is meant to put this right.
