MedtechSnipes is a gamified, IRL social app designed exclusively for members of Medtech@UCI. Our goal is to bridge the gap between formal club meetings by encouraging spontaneous interactions and community building across the UCI campus.
The game is simple: See a member, snap a photo, earn points.
- Identify Yourself: Log in and select your profile so the club knows who is on the hunt.
- The Snipe: When you spot another Medtech member randomly on campus, approach them and take a photo together.
- Log the Catch: Mark who you "sniped" in the app and upload the photo.
- Win Prizes: Every snipe earns you points (10 for the sniper, 5 for the sniped). At the end of the quarter, top snipers are eligible for some prize!
Note: Beyond the competition, these photos help us curate "Quarter in Review" reels, promotional materials, and memories that celebrate our club culture!
- Member Directory: Easily find and select fellow club members to mark your snipes.
- Photo Uploads: Direct integration to upload your "proof" to our secure database.
- Leaderboard: Track your ranking against other members in real-time.
- Campus Connectivity: Encourages networking and friendships outside of standard lab/meeting hours.
This mobile-friendly web app is built using:
- Frontend: JavaScript / React Native
- Framework: Expo
- Platform: Web & Mobile compatible
- Node.js (LTS version)
- npm or yarn
- Clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com/MedTechAtUCI/MedtechSnipes.git cd MedtechSnipes - Install dependencies:
npm install
- Run the development server:
npx expo start
- Open the app:
- Press 'w' to open in your web browser.
- Scan the QR code with the Expo Go app (iOS/Android) to view it on your phone.
