I like everything about this except for that last comma, maybe the last part of that sentence should be rewritten instead?

As for comma, for me it looks grammatically correct. Tomorrow i'll look how maybe rewrite it, and maybe i'll check whole docs for improvements :)

I'm pretty certain for example:

It makes use of select to provide a handy menu system for picking plugins, and configures the bot to use them.

If you remove "and branches" it's definitely misplaced, and I don't think the pair is supposed to change the grammatical structure of the sentence.
