Add to F-Droid catalogue

Thank you for keeping simpletask alive. The original simpletask was on f-droid, but has been removed since it isn't maintained, anymore. I'm preparing to add this fork to f-droid: https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/-/merge_requests/25460

Once it is in f-droid, I'll create a pull request to the README.md with updated f-droid references.

Was that the real or only reason the app (Cloudless version) was removed from F-Droid? Did the developer (mpcjanssen) ask for removal? I could not find any evidence about that on GitLab. It might be a good idea to ask what he thinks about the app being added again in the F-Droid app store.

Sure, don't hesitate to ask if you need help.

I don't know for sure, but the commit that removed it, removed a total of 284 apps. I randomly looked at a few and they where all archived github/gitlab projects. That's why I assume that f-droid monitors them (semi-)automatically. I have contacted the original developer to ask if he is ok with the f-droid version keeping the original app-id to allow previous users an automatic upgrade.

As I have already replied by email, I am delighted that Simpletask is getting a second live, thank you so much for adopting it.

The reason it was removed from fdroid is probably because the github repo is archived indeed.

However, I would prefer a change in appid though because 1. the current appid contains my domain name and 2. it makes it clear for the fdroid users that this is a forked version.

Simpletask is the best implementation of the todo.txt format I have ever come across: simple, functional, and powerful (Lua scripts).

I have been a user of the Dropbox Android app since its first release in 2013 (the first commit was in March of 2013 according to https://gitwhois.com/mpcjanssen/simpletask-android ). Without a doubt simpletask is the longest running, and most used app, on my phone.

Unfortunately, my legacy Dropbox simpletask app stopped working yesterday. I suspect the Dropbox API changed, and the legacy app is no longer able to connect to Dropbox.

Thankfully, I found this wonderful repo that is trying to keep the app on life support. @willemw12 how can I help?

I am not a dev but I have been playing around with Github Copilot and opencode and maybe those tools can help refactor and maintain the app more easily.

It depends, a) if it is for the current Cloudless version/flavor, or b) if you want to work on a Dropbox version/flavor (initially) yourself?

The main goal for this app, for me, is to keep the Cloudless version working.
And very infrequently update its dependencies.
And do some (minor) refactoring when needed, when things become deprecated. The most challenging one (for me to work on) is upgrading "targetSdk" to above version 34 (see #3, assigned to me and closed for now: impacts several screen layouts and available color themes).

A major refactor, to a newer code base, would be a lot of work. Maybe then instead, start from scratch or use another app.
