bot keeps shutting down

I'm sure there's something obvious that I'm missing but I can't figure out why my bot keeps shutting down.

My bouncer doesn't show any logs that indicate an issue, it seems like every once in awhile my bot will complete its .Run. It doesn't happen reliably either. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

I have not looked at the hellabot code in a long time now, but I'm guessing a panic there would cause everything to exit :)

I don't see any error messages logged. My guess is the timeout here: https://github.com/whyrusleeping/hellabot/blob/master/hellabot.go#L136

I've been looking at the logs coming in from the bot and I could definitely see a 5 minute gap between incoming messages. I'm going to try extending that timeout and see what happens.

What IRC server is this? They do usually send out PING messages more often than 5 minutes, I think.

I don't have time to look more right now (on my phone, and on vacation) but let me know if you figure something out :-)

I'm connected to a bouncer (soju) which is connected to libera. I sent you a PR that will log the incoming message scanner errors. Testing it out now and will let you know what I find.

Is there a way to increase the read timeout of the following IRC bot keeps on leaving the channel because it times out when reading PING Messages

I switched to this library instead https://github.com/ergochat/irc-go/ with the ircevent package, it's a drop-in replacement for this library. Certainly not an issue with our code or network but this library as mentioned in previous post the above code should be adjusted to increase the timeout

No more disconnections anymore, seems like no one has the free time to bother to investigate/fix the code, it's still good tho if you have a local ZNC bouncer, but why bother.
