Maybe both of these projects will be eclipsed by Summingbird. :)
It does seem like the two projects are orthogonal, as this is about schemes for spouts, and ScalaStorm is a more stylistic wrapper around basic bolts and spouts.
I remember a while back you guys asked me what direction ScalaStorm was going in.
