How it works in classic editor in azure devops ?

Hi. How i can use this extension in classic editor ? For example i add in second job in my pipeline Variable expression "eq(dependencies.check.outputs['CheckChanges.HasChanged'], 'true')" but every time this job not started and i have "Expanded: eq(Null, 'true')"... But my git repo has changes
Can you help me ?
