Can't download from Simple.TV 2 (newest model)

On the Simple.TV 2, which is the newest model, which also has a download feature in the web UI, the simple TV downloader for windows can download shows, but the downloaded shows are not watchable in VLC or Plex.

What format do they come as? I would just be loading them to a tablet to watch on the road in Airplane mode

The format they come out of for Simple.TV 1 is h264/mp4. I'm not sure what happens with Simple.TV 2, because I haven't had the chance to test one yet. I would guess that it's the same, though.
