A case where SI2 fails to find the problem but SU thinks there's one: An edge connecting two inner extrusion

Thanks for this tool. I've been using it a lot hence I felt like I should take the time and file this bug report in the nicest way I could!

Below you'll find a SU file that contains two models. Both is problem free according to Solid Inspector but SketchUp doesn't like one of them.

SI2 was created with 3D printabliity in mind. SketchUp's definition of a Solid is that every edge has exactly two faces connected.

In the scenario you describe SketchUp will not consider it a solid. It is however 3D printable. (Though, maybe not an ideal model for 3D printing to have such geometry.)

This means it might not be the best fit if you intend to use SketchUp's solid tools. One possible way to address this could be to add an Option to take into account how SketchUp expects a solid to be.

Personally, I'm using this tool to make sure my models are solid (and ready to be fed to some simulations). And to be honest, SI2 helped me quite a bit in the past with these kinds of problems. In fact, this is the first time it failed me.

Any better tool to check if a model meets "solid requirements" of SU if SI2 is geared more towards 3D printing?

Also, feel free to close the issue if this is outside the scope of this extension.

You might find SI1 to match SketchUp's Solid definition. The two can be installed side by side.

Good to hear. I'll leave this open for considering an option to enforce the "each edge, two face" definition by SketchUp.
