DevTranslator Privacy Policy

Overview

DevTranslator is committed to protecting your privacy. This extension operates on a "privacy-first" principle with no data collection or external storage.

Data We DON'T Collect

  • ❌ Personal information
  • ❌ Translation history
  • ❌ Usage analytics
  • ❌ Browsing data
  • ❌ Any user data whatsoever

How DevTranslator Works

  1. Local Storage Only: Your API key is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's secure storage
  2. Direct API Calls: Your text is sent directly from your browser to Google's Gemini API
  3. No Intermediary: We don't have servers - there's no "middle man" handling your data
  4. Immediate Processing: Translations are processed in real-time and not stored anywhere

Third-Party Services

DevTranslator uses Google's Gemini API for translation services. When you use the extension:

  • Your input text is sent to Google's API for translation
  • Google's privacy policy applies to this interaction: https://policies.google.com/privacy
  • No other third-party services are used

Data Storage

  • API Keys: Stored locally in your browser using Chrome Storage API
  • Settings: Stored locally in your browser
  • No Cloud Storage: Nothing is stored on external servers
  • No Tracking: No cookies, analytics, or tracking mechanisms

Data Sharing

We don't share any data because we don't collect any data. It's that simple.

Your Rights

Since we don't collect data, there's no data to:

  • Access
  • Modify
  • Delete
  • Export

Your API key and settings can be managed directly through the extension interface.

Security

  • API keys are stored using Chrome's secure storage mechanisms
  • All communications with Google's API use HTTPS encryption
  • No data transmission to our servers (we don't have any!)

Children's Privacy

DevTranslator doesn't collect data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to Privacy Policy

If we ever change our privacy practices, we'll update this policy and notify users through the extension.
