The expand-a-path thing could be combined with a 0 full expand (or maybe negatives?) to make the doctree significantly more useful. This way, we could have a fully collapsed doctree on doc pages which when expanded will open directly to the path of the current page, highlighted. This would also let the general doctree page allow highlighting so we could perhaps make categories "linkable".
