[Feature Request] Nested Groups

Hi,

Really like the feature set you got going here. Super helpful for being able to deal with large code bases with similarly related files. The fact that you can open up the full group is why I chose this over the favorites extension, which has the ability of nested groups, but lacks the ability to open a full group by a press of a button. From what I can tell, this plugin does not support this? Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. (I just noticed it was listed as a Known Issue)

Under the impression that it is not supported, I would expect the nested groups to work pretty similar to the rest of the functionality in place. When you open up a group with multiple groups inside of it, it should open all of the folders recursively (maybe some options there)

Any interest in supporting this feature? I'd also be happy to take a stab at it myself, if I can find the time outside of my day job.

Thanks for putting in the time to write up the feature request. While I think nested groups could be a useful feature, it will likely be quite challenging to implement.

When I originally started building the extension I put the nested groups into the "too-hard" basket mainly because I did not need that functionality at the time and just wanted a way to easily see a subset of files and folders in a large mono repo we use at my place of work. Not having to think about nested groups allowed me to take some shortcuts that would need to be identified and resolved.

Implementing the feature will probably require figuring out how to distinguish between real folders, real files, the root focus group and the new nested focus groups and then thinking about how that will impact the constraints on available actions for tree items.

There are also some possible quirks (hacks) required to continue using the inbuilt VSCode Treeview.

If you want to find out a little more about the internals there is a class diagram and some notes that I refer back to as it can be months between me having time to work on the extension.

Happy to collaborate on an initial software design to outline the required changes to make nested groups possible.

Appreciate the in-depth response! I definitely understand taking the hacky approach to just get things up and running. I'll take a look at this more once I get some more spare time :)

I tested the new extension in a couple of projects I have worked with the previous version, and I didn't find any breaking changes or new bug, It's ready to review/merge.
