Too many DNS requests from pi-node Linux

My pi-node Linux has been running for a while.
Recently I found out that it sends too many DNS requests to my local DNS caching server, exceeding 5000 requests per minute. At that moment, I saw that around dozen curl processes were spawned. 5000 requests per minute from dozen of curl processes is unnormal high.
Is this a bug?
