What is the reason for this? What requires 2 clicks in the current icons would require 2 (only for simple toggles) or 3 now, what requires 3 clicks would require 4 and so on. |

While I much prefer the quick settings style menu over having a bunch of separate applets, you are unlikely to see Mint develop this for Mate or Xfce. Mint doesn't really develop those two desktops. You would be much more likely to see something like this become available for Cinnamon. |

Another ExampleSimilar RequestThis will provide a single place of contact to control all essential and basic tools usually found in the right end of the dash/taskbar of other widespread OSs. It will essentially reduce steps for manual customisations like adding separate applets for brightness, sound ,Wifi, Night Light , Bluetooth etc. For those, saying that it will increase clicks, I disagree to it. The reason being that multiple tools will be at single place so it will be eventually easier to control things. But still if someone doesnot want it , there should be an option to have single applets too (though its use will be rare). |

Understood. Now limiting the feature request here to Cinnamon DE only for LM Team. For MATE requests have been made on respective forum. Shall I change the request to cinnamon here or create a new idea discussion? Special Note: Anyone who supports this idea and want this to be on XFCE , please make a request on the Forum XFCE. Please note, it requires login. |

Objective:
To create a 'Quick Settings Menu' for Cinnamon: to control basic tools such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi , Speaker Volume, Brightness, Battery Percentage etc similar to Gnome 4x series or Windows 11.
Problem:
Managing basic system control tools such as Wifi , brightness etc in Linux Mint is neither convenient nor consistent especially in Linux Mint desktop environments.
The current system tray tools are not consistent and varies from device to device.
The Quick Settings menu in Windows 11 has been well-received for its ease of use. Also, Gnome 4x series based systems like Zorin OS have a similar thing. Unfortunatly, Linux Mint lacks such an essential feature.
Proposed Feature:
Provide a Quick Settings Menu for Enhanced System Control in Linux Mint would enhance the user experience by providing quick access to essential system controls, reducing the need to navigate through multiple menus and settings.
Also, ensure that it is consistent as per the selected theme (e.g dark / light mode)
Some basic system controls to include are:
- Networking: Toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Airplane mode.
- Audio: Volume control and mute toggle.
- Display: Brightness control and display mode toggles (e.g., night light on/off).
- Power: Battery status / percentage, power mode toggles (e.g., performance, balanced, power saver).
Benefits:
Convenience: Users can quickly access and toggle essential system settings without navigating through multiple menus.
Efficiency: Reduces the time spent on system configuration, allowing users to focus on their tasks.
Consistency: Provides a consistent user experience across different Linux Mint desktop environments.
Customization: Allows users to tailor the Quick Settings menu to their specific needs and preferences.
