The problem may be "Offline = true". Please uncheck the "Offline" option at the bottom of the Confirmation page of the Eclipse Updater. Does that help? |

Indeed I tried installing the release, installing the patch, and then installing m2, where we can see the patch its optional greedy

I'm not totally sure how you got into your state. You appear to have org.eclipse.jdt.javanextpatch.feature.group installed. How did you install that? The unit comes from https://download.eclipse.org/jdt/updates/4.37-P-builds and I can see in the repository explorer that the missing thing is available there? 
I see that repository in some of your logs, but not in this latest part you showed: 
If you used the notification to install the patch, and you used Navigate -> Open Setup -> Installation I image in will look like this: 
But there the requirement is option and the repository is listed. Is that present in your Installation.setup? |

One thought I had is maybe you installed the patch manually and then when doing the m2 thing, Oomph adds that root install unit to the p2 task, but in that case it's not optional, and maybe you removed the update site for the patch manually from your available update sites. It would be good to know how you go into the current state. |

I was not able to reproduce a problem following this theory either. I'll need some feedback in order to help further. E.g., you might try installing the patch first. or deleting the p2 director task for the patch from the installation.setup, but for me neither of those things appear to be a problem. Hmmm, maybe you created the initial installation by unzipping it? |

I'm not sure what to say. You have so many logs with different errors... According to one such log you have this failure. 
That can only come from here: 
You can add that site to here: 
But while that repository is missing in your log, I see it elsewhere in other logs with other failures, maybe ones from being offline: 
If the patch is installed is installed, you can uninstall it: 
If you wish to share another log, use Navigate -> Open Setup -> Open Setup Log, select all the text, delete it and save it so you have a log with only the latest failure, not a growing history of content. |

I made some changes based on investigating this issue: In general I've made patch feature requirements be optional so that the problem in your stack trace shouldn't (can't) happen. But I was never able to reproduce that problem in the first place. The failure suggests that

Uninstalled 'Eclipse Java Development Tools update for Java 25' as suggested. Installed M2 milestone using 'Install in this IDE' with no problem. Many thanks for your assistance |

You're welcome. I still don't fully understand the state you were in, but with the changes I committed, in the future, all patches will be treated as optional. Also from testing an unzipped IDE product I found another problem that I would not have found without having investigate your problem, so good things came out of it. Thank you! |
