Gender filter (feature request)

Congrats on the new repo! I love it!

It would be handy to be able to add a gender filter, or a filter that creates gender-neutral avatars (say, no mustache for female and gender-neutral avatars).

Hi, thanks for the feedback and request. I also had a similar idea before, but since it's not a part of the core functionality, it was not implemented.

This might be possible to do in the future using the tagging system (e.g. #male, #female), or similarly. Since Multiavatar is a long-term project, I believe that such a gender filter feature will become available in the future.

Hi everyone,

I developed a beta version for genders some time ago, but didn't announce it in any way.

You can find it here: https://multiavatar.com/multiavatar-genders-dev.js

You can use it in the following way:

By prefix in the ID

• Male: start the ID with [m]:

const svgMale = multiavatar('[m]User123');

• Female: start the ID with [f]:

const svgFemale = multiavatar('[f]User123');

The [m] / [f] prefix is stripped before hashing, so the base identity stays the same, only gendered features change.

By function parameter

// multiavatar(string, sansEnv, ver, gender)
const svgMale   = multiavatar('User123', false, undefined, 'male');
const svgFemale = multiavatar('User123', false, undefined, 'female');
