Describe the bug

When I click the button to sign in and enter my email and password for my Microsoft account, I get the popup that says:

An error occurred

I/O (std) error: Failed to fetch player profile
  • I have consulted the "Minecraft sign in issues" page. It does not address this error message.
  • I have reviewed each of the other bugs on this topic that have been closed, and not found a path that resolves this problem.
  • I have successfully launched Minecraft from the official Minecraft Launcher while logged in to this account, so a Minecraft profile should exist.
  • My Minecraft profile page shows "Minecraft Java edition" and "Minecraft Bedrock edition" both with a "Learn more" link rather than "Buy now".
  • I have attempted logging in through a hotspot on my phone.
  • I have uninstalled the Modrinth App and reinstalled, after removing the following support directories for good measure:
    • ~/Library/WebKit/ModrinthApp
    • ~/Library/Preferences/ModrinthApp.plist
    • ~/Library/HTTPStorages/ModrinthApp.binarycookies
    • ~/Library/Caches/ModrinthApp

I am happy to look for logs that may shed more details on the problem.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Launch Modrinth App.
  2. Click "Select Account" in the upper right of the window.
  3. Click the green arrow next to "Not Signed In".
  4. Enter my credentials for my Microsoft Minecraft account.
  5. The error message appears.

Expected behavior

Expected login to be successful.
