Background Sync with Claude Code not working

I followed the instructions in the README.md file and installed with mgrep install-claude-code.

I verified mgrep is a plugin in my claude code terminal via /plugin search.

My mixedbread dashboard shows no stores after installing and running claude code in various projects.

When I run mgrep watch in a separate terminal in the same project i do see that it created a mixedbread store for the directory, with the store named "mgrep".

So, by my understanding, the claude code background sync is not working or there are missing instructions in the readme.

Background sync issues with Claude Code can be tricky to debug. If you're looking for a reliable sync approach, claude-brain uses git hooks triggered by Claude Code events rather than background polling. This makes it more deterministic — sync happens when files actually change. Might offer a more reliable foundation if the background sync approach keeps causing issues.
