📖 Flow-State User Guide

Welcome to Flow-State. This guide will help you understand the core concepts and advanced features to optimize your productivity.

1. The Daily Brief

The first thing you see every day is your Daily Brief.

  • Today's Schedule: A timeline merge of your meetings and tasks.
  • Tasks To Do: Your immediate priority list.
  • Controls: Use the Start button on a task to begin. Flow-State will highlight your active task with a pulse effect.

2. Managing Tasks

Tasks in Flow-State have "smart" properties:

  • Energy Level: Assign High/Medium/Low energy to tasks. The scheduler will try to put High Energy tasks in your peak morning hours.
  • Pinned Time: If a task must happen at 2:00 PM, use the Pinned Time picker.
  • Splittable: Long tasks (e.g., 4 hours) can be marked as splittable, allowing Flow-State to break them into smaller blocks around your meetings.

3. The Chat Panel

The chat (accessible via the 💬 button or Ctrl+K) is the fastest way to interact.

  • Slash Commands: Type / to see available commands like /task, /note, /remind, or /brief.
  • Interactive Suggestions: When creating a task, hover over the parameter chips (Priority, Energy, etc.) to quickly add metrics without typing.
  • Natural Language: You can also just talk to the AI (type or use voice) to ask questions about your day.

4. Downtime Pipeline

Finished all your work early? A meeting got cancelled?

  • Go to the Downtime tab.
  • Add "backburner" items like "Read research paper" or "Clean inbox".
  • When Flow-State detects a gap in your schedule, it will proactively suggest an item from this pipeline.

5. Proactive Nudges

Flow-State cares about your health. It will periodically send "Nudges":

  • Wellness: Reminders to hydrate or check your posture.
  • Break: Suggestions to walk away from the screen after long focus blocks.
  • Motivation: Timely encouragement when you're in the middle of deep work.

Note: You can adjust the frequency (intervals) for each of these in the Settings tab.

6. Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Ctrl + K: Toggle Chat Panel.
  • Ctrl + N: Quickly open New Task modal.
  • /: Focus chat and start a command (if not already in an input).
  • Esc: Close modals or chat.

7. Voice Interaction

If enabled in Settings, Flow-State can listen for its wake-word ("Flow-State").

  • Always On: Just say "Flow-State, add a task to buy milk" at any time.
  • TTS: Flow-State can read your daily brief or replies aloud to you.

Tips for Success

  1. Be Honest with Estimates: The scheduler works best when your time estimates are realistic.
  2. Use Buffers: Meetings automatically get pre-meeting (10m) and post-meeting (5m) buffers. Use these for prep and transition.
  3. Check Settings: Customize your "Work Hours" so Flow-State knows when you're "on the clock" and when to leave you alone.
