LS crashes after updating to Julia 1.12.0

I have updated from Julia 1.11.6 to 1.12.0 on macOS 26 Tahoe. Every time I open a project in my editor (Zed), the LS crashes after downloading the cache files.

I can repro on the command line:

I tried both the stable release LanguageServer.jl v4.5.1 and main (commit 75849fc from October 14). I removed ~/.julia and started from scratch. The issue persists. Any ideas?

You need SymbolServer and StaticLint on the newest commit too.

As I'm involved in zed-julia, does this mean we need to install those three packages on main/master to make the LS work with Julia 1.12? Does the VSC extension handle it this way? Or, are you planning to tag a new release?

the fix in SymbolServer.jl PR #298 resolves the issue. But you need to pull it directly, since the release didnt change since '24.

What is stopping cutting releases that have these fixes? As it stands, eglot-jl is broken out of the box using Julia 1.12

I have deleted .julia directory and reinstalled multiple times. Any pointers would be appreciated...

The problem is solved now. Turns out my emacs julia-ls was working with the environment .config/emacs/.local/straight/build-30.2/lsp-julia/languageserver and not the one I set it to. That environment had SymbolServer and LanguageServer which were really old (SymbolServer was at 7.4.0 and LanguageServer was at 4.5.1).

I deleted the Project.toml and Manifest.toml in that folder and ran the command
fetching the latest versions and it now works.

I had been stuck with this bug for a week. Thank you anyway @pfitzseb
