Hi-Tech Idea:
A single "Book Shelf" can now only hold so many books. Can only store books.
Research Discs: More affordable alternative to the paper-style research books, but only useable once you have the technology built to use them.
Disc Tower: Holds Research Discs. Holds a much greater amount or research than the Bookshelf. Can only hold discs.
Research Mainframe: A high-tech research core used to develop technology more efficiently.
Power use can be lowered or raised up to a maximum cap, and affects the Processing power of the Mainframe.
At 70% or max power the Mainframe offers more speed than a High-Tech Research Bench + Multi-analyzer.
Research Terminal: A terminal used to research technology and document technology.
Research speed is based on the Research Mainframe's Proccessing Power.
Researching and documenting is done simultaneously. This however limits a research terminal to one project at a time.
Once research is complete, the terminal begins a compiling and saving process which will be done on its own. The terminal will be unusable during this time.
(It could be possible that the compiling and saving process could be interrupted by solar flares/power outages. that is just an idea)
Once the entire process finishes, it will output a completed Research Disc.
Droid Processor Idea:
Compatible Androids and droids: Referred to as "droids" from here on.
Droids contain processors that allow you to add processing power to your research mainframe, increasing your mainframe's possible processing power above 100%.
Droid Mainframe Platform: A platform built adjacent to a Research Mainfraime for droids to connect to.
(When drafted/Idle on this tile or unless you can find a way to force a droid to stay put)
Droids use their own processing power to boost the Mainframe's Processing power, boosting the total capabilities of terminals linked to it.
(Droids could potentially use more of their stored power for this. Not sure. Droid tiers could also have differeing processing powers.)
You can have as many droids linked to the Mainframe as you can place platforms adjacent.
(a 3x3 mainframe could potentially allow for 12 droids, adjacent to the sides of the platforms. Balance and size determinations would be needed.)
Droid Research Idea:
Droids are only the types of robots that can enter the map already containing technologies.
Droids have a Datacore which can be destroyed but hold technology.
(Datacore hediff optional. could be annoying to have to patch into each body)
Droids need technology uploaded into their datacores in order for them to make use of technology, and any droid acquired from raids/traders will have
their known technologies encrypted, requiring you decrypt them.
Data Decryption Platform: A platform used to decrypt individual tech data stored on the droid's datacore. Research would be done as normal, except
an organic pawn would need to actively use a research terminal. Once decrypted, the droid could be sent to the uplink platform
for data upload.
Data Uplink Platform: A platform built adjacent to a Research Terminal for droids to connect to.
When connected to the platform, a droid's stored research data can be documented by a humanoid using the Research Terminal.
Once all of a droid's techs have been decrypted, you are able to upload new techs into it's datacore.
