Scan somrtimes reports "*fail"

Sometimes (every xth reboot of the esp), I see, that the scan did not suceeded:

Reloading files or rebooting fixes the issue then.

• I would expected this fail to be reported via ebus scan or even device error? I dont see those fails within MQTT, as far as I can see.
• Anything I can do/improve at my side to let this not happen?

EDIT: The log does not show any error or similar when this happens

in that case the target did not answer, not even to repeated scan tries. does it work in that situation when issuing a reload via UI?
and what does repl "info" show then?
the error topic is for very low level errors like uart buffer overflow and such

hm, the device does not seem to answer, even after the 3rd repetition. or maybe the wiring isn't well enough so that a bit toggles and makes the message invalid. is it located on another end of the bus maybe?

If you look on my info picture a few posts above: are there indocators of any wiring issues? Arbitration? Symbol rate? Iam no expert on bus systems, I thought those show issues. I dont know what are good and bad values there.

However, when I installed the system, I did all eBUS wiring with J-Y(St)Y (2x2x0,8). Which worked well. Some day, the system showed "VR70 error". I was using ebusd that time as well and never had any comms error. I replaced any eBUS wiring then with Vaillant recommendations anyway: 2x1,5mm2 (untwisted). Which made zero difference: The VR70 error still happening twice a year and ebusd is happy with the wiring since ever.

So I think its a sw issue. I had trouble reproducing the issue for this report. MANY tries succeeded very fast. And IF (!) the 700 is not being recognized, it is ONLY the 700. I had never an issue with other participants.

So I think its a SW issue within the 700 somehow/sometimes?

looks fine, nothing unusual in your image.
anyway, I wanted to know the rough distance of the wire to the device compared to the others. does it sit near the heating unit or is it e.g. in a different room with some meters of cable in between?
how many tries did you have to use roughly for reproduction? so I know how often I'd have to it as well in order to hopefully reproduce it.
if you have it again, you could go to the status or messages tab and issue a force reload? this would retrigger the scan. and maybe before doing that enable raw logging via repl (just send "raw" as command)

The 700 is inside the system, so short cable length. The wire to the VR70 is the longest distance and cable length.

I had to reboot the esp around 10 times to get the issue.

Also: would be great if the failure of detecting any system (it somehow knows that 700 should be there?) would be published via mqtt (scan status: failed or something like that?).

Not only if keep scan is on. Its off on my side and micro-ebusd seems to know about the participant bit fails to load it? That should trigger an indicator that something failed as well.
