First, thank you for your work on this extension. I am looking for a way to send a donation and keep a tab updated progress information on development.

The link at the top of https://github.com/jobisoft/quicktext/issues seems outdated, it seems it was posted in 2023. Is that Paypal account still valid ? The link goes to #371

I eventually found links to progress of development:

• Quicktext v6 (Milesteone 1): Changed template handling #439
• Quicktext v6 (Milesteone 2): Modified script support #451

It is my understanding version 6.x and newer will only be supported and will keep working on ESR versions. Is this correct ?

Hi MagicFab,

thanks for reaching out. The PayPal account is still valid, and we continue to work on Quicktext. The current Beta Version is a bit ahead of the official version on ATN, we will push the latest beta to all users soon.

The current version 6 is officially supported only on Thunderbird ESR, I will not release updates to work with the latest Thunderbird Release version (which is updated every 4 weeks).

Current development status is the following:

• Three elements of the add-on still use a legacy implementation: the manager UI, the toolbar for quick access buttons in the compose window and direct file system access.
• The UI is planned to be rewritten until summer 2026, but I cannot give a promise.
• The default storage location of templates has been moved away from local file system to local storage, which is modern technology
• Once the UI has been rewritten, the toolbar and the raw file system access will be moved out of Quicktext into a companion add-on. This will make Quicktext itself use only modern technology and will work with Thunderbird Release without additional updates.
• Users who need the toolbar and/or direct file system access, need to stay on ESR, as the companion add-on will only work on ESR.

This will be Milestone 3. Once we reached that, we will think about the next steps.
