0x40000017 is returned when using the EDID example, why does the problem persist?

Hi,
I'm using IGCL to get the EDID, but when I use the EDID example you gave, it returns 'ctlEdidManagement:READ EDID 1 returned failure code: 0x40000017', which prevents me from proceeding with my work down.
I ran it with admin privileges, but it still does.
I see that the previous issure says it has been solved, but why is the problem still there?
How do I get the EDID correctly?

We need to change the brightness of the secondary display. So, first we need to enumerate the displays and find out which are the companion displays. Then in order to single our target display, we need to compare the EDID from the display property. We use the following APIs for the above, but they currently give the said issue.

• ctlGetAdaperDisplayEncoderPropertie()
• ctlEdidManagement()

Not sure we need to use ctlEdidManagement API here, have you checked the API: ctlSetBrightnessSetting for the brightness setting. Primary display will be always identified using "CTL_ENCODER_CONFIG_FLAG_INTERNAL_DISPLAY"

The issue here is not about control the brightness. It is the API calls I mentioned above. The sample code is from this repository Samples/Edit_Management_Sample

EDID management API is under NDA and not for common use, sample app not working is expected here. I provided inputs for unblocking brightness control as that was the use case mentioned in above comment: #127 (comment) for companion displays. I am not clear now on the exact use-case why we need EDID management API here. Can you clarify or let me know if I am missing something here

@ashutosh-d-shukla I have two companion displays attached. I need to control the brightness for only one of them. That's why EDID management API is used (for identifying the display) unless you have other way to identify the display.

Please use the ctlPanelDescriptorAccess API for getting Panel's EDID data, EDID management API should not be needed.
