Could you please share more detailed steps for reproduction? Additionally, would it be possible to gather a stack trace with debug symbols included?

We would also appreciate any information on whether this problem is distribution-specific. For instance, could it be reproduced on Ubuntu 24.04?

Thank you for your response. Sorry I do not have access to other Linux distros at the moment. Basically if I start darktable with OpenCL enabled for the intel Arc 140v iGPU, the software would crash whenever I try to edit any image, whether it is jpg, RAW, or png. However, I do also notice that with the driver 32.0.101.8531 on Windows 11 25H2, camera raw would also have "Due to a run-time error, GPU acceleration has been disabled."

Our preliminary assessment is that the abort may have been triggered by a failed built-in compilation, potentially caused by an incompatible IGC version in the stack. Please note, however, that this remains an assumption at this stage. Without debug symbols for the driver at the time of the crash, we are unable to draw further conclusions.

To help us investigate further, we would kindly ask you to consider the following:

• Provide a minimal reproducer - if possible, could you share a simplified test case that we could use to reproduce the issue on our end?
• Upgrade the driver - could you try switching to a driver version newer than 25.40.035563 to determine whether the issue has been resolved in a more recent release?

All packages were installed from the standard openSUSE Tumbleweed OSS repository and are the latest versions available. No packages were manually installed or mixed from other sources.

Driver upgrade:
The intel-opencl version currently in openSUSE Tumbleweed (25.40.35563.4) does not appear to be newer than the version at the time of the crash (25.40.035563). I will investigate swapping the SSD to test a different distro that may provide a newer upstream release.

I am a new Linux user and am not sure how to construct a minimal reproducer. However, I can report the following sequence for replicating the issue:

Launch DarkTable 5.4.1 with Intel OpenCL support enabled, with default GPU scheduling profile.
Open any image in the Darkroom tab (tested with both JPG and Sony ARW formats, multiple files)
DarkTable crashes immediately and consistently — every time, with every file tested, producing nearly identical stack trace

The crash does not occur when OpenCL is disabled in DarkTable's preferences.

The stack trace is identical to the one from the original DarkTable crash. I also notice that clpeak using the same NEO driver completes successfully — the crash seems specific to clEnqueueWriteImage with a 2D image object.

For reference, I have also filed a bug report with openSUSE to request a package version update for intel-opencl. The report includes the same minimal reproducer:

Hi @kgibala,
I was able to test the minimal reproducer on a newer driver version using WSL2 (Ubuntu 24.04), which uses the Windows Intel GPU driver rather than the OpenSUSE packages. The clEnqueueWriteImage call completes successfully on driver 26.05.37020.3, confirming the bug is fixed in a newer release. The fix has not yet reached OpenSUSE Tumbleweed's package repositories — Hopefully it gets updated soon.

However, there is one inaccuracy worth noting. Based on the provided stack, your current IGC version is 16.0.5:
