('1667216547', 26, 'Subodh_123', 'NITK Surathkal convocation will now be held in October', 'Mangaluru: NITK Surathkal, which usually holds its annual convocation in the second week of November, has advanced it to October, for the convenience of fresh graduates. The idea was mooted by the director additional charge, and director of NIT Calicut, Prasad Krishna. This will help fresh graduates, those who are placed in various companies, and those candidates, who continue their higher studies in India and abroad, to receive their graduation certificates in person. This year, the 20th annual convocation of the institute was initially scheduled for September 24. However, it had to be postponed to October, as the chief guest , minister of education, was not available to attend it.\r\nRavindranath, registrar, NITK Surathkal, said that according to Krishna, the convocation in most of the NITs across the country is held either in August or September. It is done so that all fresh graduates who finish their course in July, can attend. However, NITK Surathkal did not adopt this due to heavy rain in the region, till the end of September. “The convocation involves a procession and other procedures. Therefore, it is not possible when it rains, and the convocation was fixed for the second week of November, for, for Dharmendra Pradhan the convenience of the graduating students. We are holding the convocation in October this year,’’ he said. Sources from NITK Surathkal informed that Krishna had mooted that the annual convocation from next year, will be held the day after the institution’s Foundation Day. The Foundation Day is on August 6. The decision to shift the convocation permanently to a particular date has to be taken at the NITK senate. “This is the plan of the current additional charge director. However, the convocation dates for next year may change, as a new director is likely to take over the institution in December or January,” a source added. 20th convocation on October 15 The 20th annual convocation of NITK Surathkal will be held\r\non October 15.', ' https://blog.iris.nitk.ac.in/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/convocation-module.png', '0', '0', '1667216547', 1, 'October 31, 2022, 5:12 pm'),
('1667216580', 27, 'Subodh_123', 'NITK crosses 10,000 research publications.', 'MANGALURU: The share of research publications by a higher education institute in academic journals play a key role in determining its eminence. The National Institute of Technology Surathkal has now indexed more than 10,000 publications in Scopus — largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature: scientific journals, books, and conference proceedings. This year, the faculty at the NITK have published 803 papers in Scopus and 337 papers in Web of Science (WoS) — a web portal that provides access to multiple citation databases. NITK has also taken significant steps to support faculty members in their endeavour to publish in highly rated journals, improving the research visibility of the institute. Giving details, Mallikarjun Angadi, a librarian at the institute, said the first paper of NITK Surathkal was published in Scopus as early as in 1968. “It took about 49 years to reach 5,000 publications in 2017. After that, it took only five years to hit 10,000 publications, which was achieved this October. Authors of the published research papers include both students and faculty of NITK Surathkal. This shows importance given to research activities at the campus,” said Angadi. During the last five years, 1,150 papers were published every year on an average. Angadi also pointed out that Scopus publications have shown that NITK Surathkal is on par with not just NITs but also IITs in the country.', 'https://www.ulektznews.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/NITK-1.png', '0', '0', '1667216580', 1, 'October 31, 2022, 5:13 pm'),
