I’ve just opened a small Discord server for FileRise.

Use it for:

• Quick questions / setup help
• Sharing screenshots & feedback
• Talking about FileRise Pro features and roadmap
• Hanging out with other self-hosters using FileRise

GitHub Issues will still be the canonical place for bug reports and feature requests, but Discord is nice for back-and-forth and “is this just me?” type questions.

Hey @error311. Will this Discussions section no longer be checked? What is the preferred method of asking questions? I'm not a big fan of Discord.

@shucking Discussions will continue. I wasn't a fan of discord myself either but I just opened a discord to build community around FileRise. Already getting help on new feature ideas and test versions.

Discord's privacy policy is why you should read it. Support & community development should be in an open source or self-hosted space where there is no data aggregation.

You’re right that Discord isn’t great on the privacy front. To clarify: GitHub (Issues/Discussions) will stay the primary and “official” place for support and development.
The Discord is just an optional real-time chat room for people who like that style of communication which nothing important related to Core will ever be Discord-only.
I’m open to adding a more privacy-friendly chat (Matrix/Element or similar) if there’s enough interest.

I would highly recommend you look into something like ArcaneChat for it's privacy & WebXDC apps you can use within a group to make a better utilical community. It's open source & self hostable if you want to run the server. Would actually be cool if there was a FileRiseXDC app.
