If I'm reading it correctly the NPE is not feasible, the variable was used on the previous line. The machine where it's consistently failing is P11. @zl-wang somebody should look at this asap.

It failed with -Xint. Looking again I think it's view that is null, not buf.

The test is related to opening a UserDefinedFileAttributeView on a symbolic link to a file which doesn't exist. The test passed on the paix913, p10aix136 AIX 7.3 machines. Either a problem with the machine setup, or something in OpenJDK that doesn't work on P11?

With a small test case, creating the UserDefinedFileAttributeView returns null if the link is to a file which does not exist, but non-null if the file exists on wp25-005-aix73tl03sp01-1. I tried another AIX 7.3 machine, paix917, which also returns null. I'll have to give paix913 a try and if the behavior is different, see how that machines differs from paix917.

Interestingly, creating the file which the link refers on paix917 to doesn't cause the UserDefinedFileAttributeView to be non-null.
rtj-aix73-hotspot-01 and wp25-005-aix73tl03sp01-3 work the same as paix917.
