Overpass-Api Not working. Error: 406 Not Acceptable

last saturday, this domain https://overpass-api.de/api/interpreter was working fine. but yesterday it started throwing error 406 and it keeps throwing the same till now. are their any changes to the server? any docs to help navigate to right working source? please help

Observed the same, seems it now requires a user-agent header to be set for every request

Please observe the following rules when using overpass-api.de:

• When called from the browser, a HTTP referrer must be included in the request.
• Scripts must set a custom HTTP user agent which identifies them well. No stock UAs, no UA faking, no UA rotation.
• No parallel running of scripts to "speed up" processing. One user, one script. Do NOT work around that rule by distributing load over multiple servers or using multiple "cloud workers".
• Keep calls to a minimum and make sure to rate-limit them. Respect the wait time reported with 429 returns.

Users not observing these rules will be blocked as required to ensure fair use for everybody.

In addition please take the following into consideration:

• If you need to use Overpass a lot, consider downloading and working with an OpenStreetMap planet or extract instead.
• If you use the service in a commercial setting, please look for alternatives (self-installation or commercial providers).

These rules may become part of our usage policy later, so start planning for migration now, if that might affect you.

@lonvia could you possibly point to the current technical spec for the rate-limiting (status endpoint etc.)? I implemented this for my Java client scripts ages ago based on https://dev.overpass-api.de/overpass-doc/en/preface/commons.html (I think...) is this still the reference?

Hi everyone, I've noticed that the overpass-api.de portal has been refusing to process any requests for three days. I've definitely never come close to the limits (I make a maximum of 100 requests per day, downloading less than 5 MB of data per day).

If you think you have been blocked wrongly, please describe what you are doing, what you use the data for, how you have implemented your use (browser app, Python script, wget, etc.), what user agent and/or referer you send and how you handle 429/504 responses.

Please be aware that the servers are very close to capacity right now and preference will be given to use cases that are directly related to OSM mapping activities.
