Programs Get Lost #1172

Behavior

Under certain conditions, Whim completely loses track of programs and you can never find or focus them again. They are clearly still running in the task manager, but won't show up on any workspace and can't be found by alt or win tab and won't show up in the task bar of any workspace. The most common way this happens is by restarting Whim - it sometimes will just lose programs. It's super, super annoying, and has always been an annoyance as long as I've used Whim. I'm super irritated right now because my IDE has unsaved changes but I can't focus or find it. My monitors lost power, and when I plugged them back in my IDE was missing. So I restarted Whim and now other programs are missing too. Only way to fix it when it does this is to close and restart the missing programs.

C# Config

This issue has always happened, even with different versions and configs.

YAML Config

Environment

  • Windows: 11 (last several versions)
  • Architecture: x86_64
  • Whim: [v0.8.2-alpha+f22f65e4] (every version, afaik)

Steps To Reproduce

Honestly, I'm not sure. Restarting whim with multiple workspaces on different monitors and different programs bound to each workspace seems to usually have the effect, but I don't know if it always happens.

Anything else?

Is there a command or something for showing all programs, like an alt tab of last resort? It's so annoying there's no way to recover lost programs which are clearly open in task manager.
