examples and documentation would help,

Examples for things like:

• word count
• twitter example
• application logs

Documentation around stuff like:

• delivery guarantees via direct zk commits & offset merging
• behavior during rebalancing, message replay supression
• multi-{threaded,process} behavior, what it means to consume multiple topic partitions at once
• gotchyas around kafka's blocking api and the rxjava's pull always api
  • things like subscribing to an empty topic (even in a wildcard!) will block your thread

And I'm sure much more...

A good thing to document is performance expectations:

I've started a simple effort to get a baseline expectation of throughputs with a simple stream observer for producers and consumers: b636ed9

I'll post back with results once I work out a consistent environment.
