Adding cetz-Elements in a Plot

To make data points in my plot better visible, I'd like to group them using rectangles.

As normal cetz-elements aren't compatible with the plot-type, I was wondering, if there's a solution beside crafting my plot from scratch with normal cetz-elements. I already tried combining those two in a canvas, but getting the scaling right for the rectangle feels quite hard, if not even impossible.

I just realised that I missed plot.annotate in the manual

Note: Sometimes plot.annotate won't work as expected. If so, you can use anchors and reference them outsides of the plot.
