Feature idea: access to more local repo info

[possibilities]

What do you think of the general idea of exposing access to things like these in a local repo:

• Untracked files
• Uncommited diff
• Working tree diff

Some similar things that would be interesting with respect to remote repos also:

• Diffs in general (could apply do remote repos also)
• Info about git history

If any of this is desirable I'd be happy to help collaborate on a plan and/or implementation. Let me know.

Very good ideas, and somewhat related to ideas in #37 and somewhat even to #20.

I think in general we want to solve for things like:

• keeping the repo up to date
• providing metadata for library users that need to know about the repository (for example, a user asking your tool "what's changed since <sha>?"
• potentially handling a couple more git operations

Broadly "management" type operations.

Right now users of kit are mostly responsible for thise (e.g., handling webhooks, re-cloning, etc), so we could definitely do more.

I'd say exposing git history and diffs is a good place to start, probably starting again with a "mid-level" API, so it would be easy for a user of kit to build, e.g., find_important_changes_between_refs. I'd start there!

@possibilities we started on #49 to cover the goals of #20.

This will allow the checkout and also lookup with arbitrary references, and also expose some basic metadata.

#49 won't cover any of the diff and history stuff, so feel free to take that on! Happy to give an feedback + thoughts.
