Use of `#![rustfmt::skip]` breaking build on Rust 1.86

Not sure there's a quick fix for this - the generated src/proto/mod_pb.rs needs rebuilding, and the tooling around it has changed. I'll try and find some time to update the build process and release a new version.

(Honestly, I'm surprised to see this package still in use at all!)
