vykar-gui causing 0.7-1.3 %CPU usage (top) when inactive

Testing vykar 0.12.6 on LinuxMint 22.3:

Looking at $ top, the process of the vykar-gui seems to constantly use 0.7-1.3 % CPU.

This is not a huge problem, I'm just reporting this, since inactive GUI apps do not normally show
constant, visible CPU usage in top, on my system.

This is without apparent activity, the window of vykar-gui is minimized and running in the background, waiting.
No backup / prune / check running.

In comparison:
When running vykar daemon, the process does not even appear in top.

I have an idea where this is coming from. It's an early version of the scheduler that should definitely get cleaned up. Good you bring it up.

Tried a lot, but couldn't get it to 0% on macos. No app I have is at 0 truly. Maybe on Linux it's down to 0. Removed some unnecessary timers and such.

How is it on linux with that latest version?

Today I optimized the commit phase for multi-million file backups. So 6.5m files take 14 minutes for a subsequent backup on slow HDDs now. For Borg the same dataset takes about 1h.

Using top - I cannot observe a difference between vykar-gui 0.12.6 and vykar-gui 0.12.7:
CPU% of vykar-gui being inactive (or minimized) is still always between 0.7 and 1.3

vykar daemon is practically at 0% - so it does not even appear on top of the top output.

Since you streamlined the scheduler of vykar-gui, it seems, that this CPU usage is caused by the GUI (Slint).

By the way, this is on a Cinnamon desktop, using X11 - perhaps CPU usage differs with Plasma or using Wayland.

Talking about the backup performance:
Using the SFTP backend, performance is surprisingly good! 👍
I plan to report about the details/ experience in a different "issue".

Yeah, definitely in Slint. Maybe it's fixed on their side eventually. I also checked Vorta and it's at 0% use on macos. So Qt6 seems better in this regard.

Just bumped the version of Slint and cpu is now at 0% for me on macos. Maybe the update solved it.

This is just to confirm, that using vykar 0.12.9, top is reporting 0% CPU usage for vykar-gui.

Interesting discovery (for me):
vykar-gui seems to span many subprocesses.

This is using linux, htop, F4 for filtering vykar-gui and F5 for tree-view.

I just stumbled over this, when trying to filter by process name, using htop.
So I never checked this before, and this might be the expected and unchanged behaviour.
