I just want to share this document: Ruby on Shell

It is a guide/handbook on using Ruby for shell scripting. This handbook will list most shell commands, and it's Ruby equivalent.

Hope this have some value to the project.

I'm also made a package similar to Rubyshell, but it's not very good. I probably archive my project and just point people to this repo instead ^^

Omg, i loved the Ruby on Shell doc and Shell on Ruby, this is the type of reading that @n-at-han-k like.

One of the focus of this actual gem is follow too to this direction, and look to your work, it give so much inspiration!

What was your objectives with Shell on Ruby?

The idea behide shell on ruby ("sor" for short) is to blend ruby and posix shell together. So calling shell command feel native in ruby, and the ruby code is as short or every close to how quick and tiny the bash code is written, so i can irb and quickly make a scrpit in the terminal.

I also want to pipe ruby string/value to a shell command conviniently, just by using dot notation to chain the command.

And the final thing is that I want to make sure every things that can be done in bash can be done in ruby without too much overhead. I remember that I have added true pipeline to pipe the stream though multi command instade of get the string output from one command and stdin it to another... (although I rarely use it)

We have the same vision here. Maybe another point, but one of my biggest focus, is have the rubyshell as a terminal emulator, or a main class terminal.

But there is still a lot of ground ahead.

I was thinking about something similar here to, streaming directly the output of a command to another, it looks cool
