I‘m not sure whether this is a bug or just not a feature: On our vacation we were up in the hills with bad internet connection. When I tried to search for a recipe I just got no results. Manual selection of a category worked as it should.
So I think the search function is only working with an internet connection while the rest of the cook book does work offline.
