UHK 80 hangs during boot

Hello!

Sometimes during boot my UHK 80 (tried different firmwares, now using the latest one) hangs on boot of the PC. I have dualboot at my PC with Linux and Windows 10. Usually (approx 1 time per 3-4 boots) is happens while booting to windows, but much less often it also happens while booting to linux. It never happens when system has already booted.

When it hangs display shows everything as usual except "num lock" icon which is usually off. But no key works, I even can't see Fn/Mod/Fn2 key indication on the screen. Leds on the left side also show no reaction to key presses. Only pushing reset button on the right side helps in such situation.

My setup:

My UHK 80 is attached using USB cable which is connected to type-c hub (please don't suggest using without it because it's impossible and the hub solidly works for ages with several previous UHKs without any problems). The halves are connected using 1,5 straight cable bought following knowledge base recommendations..

Yesterday it hung while booting completely different laptop with ubuntu linux being connected using Dongle, not usual cable.

My $onInit macro is:

set bluetooth.alwaysAdvertiseHid 0
setVar btCycle 0

but the problem started before I created the macro.

This part is strange: are you sure that the uhk itself hanged?

I would expect the dongle to hang instead. In that case the computer would not receive keys, but uhk oled would continue showing layer indicators. I would expect the situation to resolve by reconnecting the dongle, without needing to reset the uhk.

Otherwise it sounds like a c2usb issue (@benedekkupper).

I'm absolutely sure that the keyboard hung because there is no reaction on it's led-display neither to key presses (Fn, Mod, Fn2) nor to reconnecting of the cables.

I would be happy to provide you debug information if you tell me how to collect it.

• see if anything interesting pops up on the oled
• given above, the keyboard is actually locked up so the snapshot macros probably won't work. Still, if you reset the keyboard when in the hanged state while devMode is enabled, you should get some trace information that may tell us something about the state.

Hello. It doesn't help. First of all it happens only while booting process. So I can't have agent launched at that moment. The second - it freezes completely. As I have said there is absolutely no reaction even on OLED neither for Mod/Fn/Fn2 key presses nor connection icon on OLED changes if I disconnect any cable from keyboard.
Text on the OLED is absolutely usual but with NumLock icon turned on (my numlock is on during first stage of the boot, and it is turned of later by OS). I see debug logs on it sometimes but not while the freeze.

Only reset helps. When I boot after reset and launch the Agent, there is nothing in logs. Only new records which appears after agent launch.

I noticed interesting (but may be not related thing): I have yubikey connected (also hid device) to my PC. And I noticed (I was pressing Fn2 quickly watching the reaction at OLED) that UHK stops responding right after short blink of the yubikey's LED. I will try to boot several times without yubikey connected and will message the results here.

Hi there, and sorry for late reply!

If devmode and logging are both enabled, a reset via the reset button should always leave a basic trace in the status buffer. This should be always possible to do.

When the trace is in the status buffer, it can then be retrieved via Agent later.

What firmware version are you on?

In any case, we should probably wait for #1482 to be merged, as it brings some c2usb fixes and basically rewrites the entire integration.
