[BUG] Lost connection to wall panel

Description

After some time or specifc actions, I lost connection to wall panel , here is my observations:

• Camera of Wall Panel dont work anymore, device do not wake up when I'm in front of camera ;
• MQTT show losing connection from my HA instance, all my sensors become unavailables ;
• HTPP commands do not work anymore and get timeout ;
• If I wake up manually the device, HA works well, even if Wall Panel is still "offline" from MQTT / HTTP ;

To restore Wall Panel, I can:

1. Wake up manually the device ;
2. Go to the settings of Wall Panel ;
3. Go back to the webview ;
4. MQTT / HTTP commands immediatly work then ;

Informations about my configuration:

• Camera, HTTP, MQTT and sensors are enabled ;
• Sensor publish frequence is default one (30s) ;
• Battery optimization has been disabled for Wall Panel app ;
• Wall panel app is default dashboard of device ;
• I have the Home Assistant app on the same device which continue to send sensors informations even when Wall Panel is "offline" ;

Steps to reproduce

Bug occure when :

• Device boot automatically (android function where you set time to automatically switch off / on the device), Wall Panel is active during like 3min and then become offline ;
• Sometimes, when I send an MQTT message to change camera settings, Wall Panel become unavailable ;

Sometime, there is day with no disconnection, sometimes it's 2 or 3 times a day. Right now, Wall Panel seems to disconnect every morning after boot since a few day.

Versions

• Device: Archos 101 Platinum 3G
• OS: Android 7
• Application version: v0.10.3

Maybe something important to note here is my system have sent in the example 3 or 4 MQTT messages to Wall Panel to enable or disable wall panel camera within like 25 seconds.

I just login to report exactly the same issue, I have random disconnections since I installed v0.10.1, no problem with the latest beta (v0.10.0-beta1).

I rollback to version https://github.com/TheTimeWalker/wallpanel-android/releases/tag/v0.10.0.1 and I can confirm I do not reproduce bug that occured in the morning after boot.

From my memory, this version suffered of the same issue that, after a while, sending a mqtt message to switch camera can sometimes "disconnect" wall panel.
But it occured like one time in a few day compare to the last version where connection is lost 2 or 3 times a day.

Hey, @TheTimeWalker can you try to te reproduce the issue ? Or maybe @FredericMa you can rollback your modifications about MQTT reconnection in #29 ? (But keep battery sensor reconnection fix)

I've created PR #47 that should handle all MQTT disconnects. Before, only one particular type of disconnects would have been handled. My expectation is that this solves this issue but it doesn't clarify why the disconnects happen while using the camera.

Thanks to @FredericMa there's a possible fix. I'm keeping this issue open just to be sure. Please try out v0.10.4 as soon as it's available in the Releases section and report back if that fixes the problem

So, it has been 2 days since upgrade.

As a reminder, here is my routines with wall Panel:

• 1 AM : Disable camera with MQTT
• 2 AM : Automatic switch off of tablet (android feature)
• 7 AM : Automatic swtich on of tablet (android feature), camera is still disabled
• 8 AM : Enable camera with MQTT

I monitor MQTT connection status with a custom binary sensor in HA :

What I observe is:

• After boot of tablet at 7 AM, MQTT connection seems to be very unstable and disconnect every 1-2 minutes and need like 2 minutes to be up again. When MQTT connection is offline, all sensors are unavailables.
• When I check if connection is OK and send throught HA a MQTT query to switch on camera, it's well handled and connection seems to be stable again (around 9 am generally).
• After a few hours, connection become instable again and disconnect all the time.

To illustrate what I get, here is some history of the sensor in HA (I checked logs and there is no delay between logs and history):

You can see all the reconnections phases between 12 pm/2:30 pm and 7 am/9 am.

If we focus on a morning, you can see the duration needed to reconnect (seems quite long) and connection becoming stable again after I trigger manually camera when connection is fine:

So the conclusion of my tests are:

• Yep, MQTT reconnection seems to work as expected. Maybe the full restart of MQTT is a bit hard as it make some time to be up again, but hey, it's working ;
• It seems that my setup can be in a state where connection is unstable, while sometimes there is no issue ;

As a reminder, here was the state of my connection with version v0.10.0.1:

Network connection is not issue I think as my wifi router is at a few meters of the tablet.

So questions are :

• Could it be an hardware issue ?
• How can I know which type of disconnection I'm face off ?
• Could it be the automatic switch off of tablet when wall panel is running that create theses stranges behaviors ?
• Any tests I can do that could help better identify this issue ?

What I see from my side are 32 events with these two exceptions from your device:
onMQTTException: Error establishing MQTT connection to MQTT broker with address [ip]
and
onMQTTException: Disconnected from: [ip], exception: io.netty.channel.ConnectTimeoutException: connection timed out: [ip]

Is your Wi-Fi more polluted right now? Is the graph from the older version a bit older, or is that what happens right now as well? Also, have you checked that your MQTT broker isn't closing all the time accidentally now? Lastly, have you checked that the app isn't getting battery optimized?

This only happens when the screen is off. I don't use face recognition or presence detection but turn off the screen if the home alarm system is turned on.

True but that PR describes a way to solve exactly the same issue we see here, by creating a foreground service notification.

I reviewed my recent changes but I can't see any change that could induce this behavior. I have the feeling that the code below, that was previously in both the MQTT 3 and 5 service, covered this issue up by accident:
