Paper has not implemented a way to determine when a Trial Spawner's state changes. They do have a similar method but only for the Vaults (VaultChangeStateEvent)

Furthermore, Player.setAffectsSpawning(boolean) does not affect trial spawner activation (Could be a bug on Paper's end?).

Trial spawner state can be get and set by TrialSpawner.getTrialSpawnerState() and TrialSpawner.setTrialSpawnerState(TrialSpawner.State) and has methods to stopTrackingPlayer, however it is documented that a trial spawner can "decide" to track a player again.

Cancelling a spawn on a trial spawner ends up with it just constantly trying to spawn the mob again. Try handling with resetting the cooldown.

This setup 'works' to prevent spawns, but has an integral issue of it still attempts to spawn the mob until the user un-vanishes, at which time it will spawn the mob if the area is still loaded. This is a pretty major issue and there doesn't seem to be a way around it in the Paper API at the moment.

Unsure if other players can see the 'activation' particles, need to test
