Issue:
It may be sometimes desirable to use the accelerometer as a shake or tamper detection device. In order to do this, it must be running while the rest of the device is in a sleep state.
Current accelerometer (MXC6655) draws ~784uA @ 3.3V in active state. This is far too high to run all the time.
Potential Solution:
BMA456 offers a low power mode of 14μA
ADXL344 offers a low power mode down to 30μA, but would require a 1.8V interface
