Description

The Wavelet app wasn't working for me no matter what, and I found a developer setting which fixes most of it. I'm guessing that this may help other people too, so it may be helpful to include in the official documentation.

As far as I am aware, the issue started when I updated my phone to Android 16, but it is possible that the issue began before that.

Expected/ideal Behavior

App fully working as intended

Actual Behavior (pre-solution)

No matter what I turn on or what I do in-app, the audio output doesn't change.
When switching Wavelet from off to on using the button with a power icon, the following message is displayed at the bottom of the phone:
Wavelet was unable to instantiate Auxiliary Preset Reverb effects

Actual Behavior (post-solution)

For the most part,
When switching Wavelet from off to on using the button with a power icon, the following message is displayed at the bottom of the phone:
Wavelet was unable to instantiate Auxiliary Preset Reverb effects

Solution

Enable the following setting in the Settings app:
System -> Developer Options -> Disable absolute volume

Specifications

  • Google Pixel 8
  • Android 16
  • playing audio over bluetooth
  • using the latest version of the app as of the time of this issue report
