If Pelias is the only target of this data then we strongly prefer the expanded forms of the tokens.

If we receive the token St it's not always easy to know that this originally referred to Street, Pelias is designed to be multi-lingual and so we will generally expand that to Street Straße and Straat, we'll also probably add synonyms for Saint and Sankt.

We also have problems with tokens like CT which could refer to Court or Connecticut, so the index ends up having a lot of synonyms for things it shouldn't really have them for :) this is avoided if the expanded form is provided at index-time.

What was the original intention for the abbreviations, is it to provide shorter display text to the user?
