How to display schematic type instance names (MN1, MP1 etc.) for devices in layout view

I am using Klayout with IHP SG13G2 Open PDK and would like to visually identify MOS devices in layout using schematic-style instance names (e.g., MN1, MN2, MP1, MP2). Currently, renaming cells in the hierarchy browser does not displays updated name on layout of device.

Instances don't have names in GDS, so you can't do that.

If the PDK supports generation of a Layout-To-Netlist database (also available inside the LVS report), you can browse that database with the netlist browser and KLayout will highlight the corresponding instance.
