Problem description
Managing MOXA settings, which are not persistent over a device reset is a continuing issue and leads to problems as a result of misconfiguration of the ports as well as loss of security and other settings. Some logging information might also be useful to spot specific errors. This ticket is aimed to address this and:
- Improve reliability of the systems relying on MOXAs.
- Make re-configuration of communication restriction settings possible (via reset/re-configure if necessary).
- Record details of individual settings automatically in a central location human information.
- Allow settings to be recorded and re-applied from the local instrument computer as part of a configuration.
It is not clear exactly what may be achieved but as a minimum this ticket should demonstrate:

- a. That thse can be done, for all the main configuration steps we use currently
- b. Document any restrictions/extra possibilities
- b. Record sample code as necessary to demonstrate what can be done out of (1) to (4) above.
